April eBay numbers: what sold, what flopped, what I’d skip.

field notes —

Quick disclaimer: I’m not a guru. I’m a guy who sells cards on weekends. April was a good month, and I want to write the numbers down somewhere honest before I forget what actually happened.

Gross sales: $2,140. eBay fees and shipping ate about $480. PayPal fees another $62. Card supplies and the one box I shouldn’t have bought: $310. Net to me: about $1,288. Time spent: probably 22 hours.

$58 an hour, if I’m being generous. $40, if I’m being honest.

What sold.

Two PSA 9s I’d been sitting on since January. A retail box I broke and listed singles from. One random pickup at a card show that doubled. The rest was volume — raw modern at $8–$15 a pop.

What flopped.

A vintage lot I overpaid for. Two Buy-It-Now listings I priced too high and then forgot to revise. A “deal” from another seller that was a deal for him.

What I’d skip next month.

The vintage lot. I don’t know the market well enough. I’ll stick to the lanes I actually read.

If you want the spreadsheet template I use for tracking this, it’s in the shop.
